This multi-level class is intended for anyone who is familiar with the basic* foundations of the practice of yoga, regardless of body type, age, and fitness and activity levels. It incorporates a mix of the guiding principles of yoga, in line with the Kripalu traditions of compassion and the very roots of yogic self-inquiry, taking into account each participant’s individual body-wisdom, and personal form of expression. This class includes the practice of classic poses (asanas), breath work (pranayama), the development of a quiet mind (meditation) and the practice of deep relaxation.
Yoga is not about the poses. It’s not the alignment of toes or hips or shoulders. Yoga is an invitation to explore with curiosity your experience of who you are, and what you need to mindfully find what brings joy into your daily life. A well-balanced practice for the whole-person aligns with the five bodies types (koshas), physical, energetic, mind, wisdom and bliss bodies, according to the yogic or Ayurveda traditions.
The intent of the series is to offer small group classes, safe and supportive for everyone. Each series is based on registration for the number of weeks, varying according to the calendar. We aim to offer programs, in person at the studio or from the comfort of your home.
● If new to yoga it would be recommended to do a one-on-one session with Jo-Ann to get comfortable with the basic movement and breathing practices.
